Mission - RV There Yet?
The Caravan of Hope seeks to ease the burdens faced by the most vulnerable in the LGBTQ+ community by expanding access to essential resources for people in underserved communities.
LGBTQ+ Americans live in every corner of this country, and always will. The unfortunate reality, however, is that in states without laws prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation, LGBTQ+ individuals experience significantly greater disparities, including lower levels of social acceptance and increased economic vulnerability.
Angela and Niko
At the Caravan of Hope, our dynamic team is led by Angela D. Giampolo, the renowned Philly Gay Lawyer and a national expert on LGBTQ+ legal issues, featured on platforms like NPR, the Wall Street Journal, Sirius XM, and the SpeakOUT radio segment. Angela is not just our founder, but a trailblazer in LGBTQ+ advocacy, using education, media, and legal services to expand access and protection. Through the Your Gay Lawyer Collective (Skool), her YouTube channel, Legal Queer and A webinars, and Pride Plans online estate planning, she provides LGBTQ+ individuals and families with trusted guidance, visibility, and community-centered legal support.
Alongside her is Niko, our Chief Bark Officer, a resilient figure with a heart for advocacy, balancing his time between philanthropy and enjoying life's simple pleasures. Together, Angela and Niko personify our mission: empowering the LGBTQ+ community with passion, expertise, and unwavering dedication.
March 2026 Tour Map
Underserved Populations.
More than half of the LGBTQ+ population in the United States lives in the Midwest and the South, regions where legal protections are inconsistent and LGBTQ+ people face deeper economic hardship, higher poverty rates, and real barriers to affording food and health care.
City dwellers can sometimes take for granted the privilege of living in a diverse metropolitan area, where for the most part, their sexual orientation and gender identity is accepted.
Rural environments often lack affirming resources for LGBTQ+ individuals and can contribute to a profound sense of isolation. In many cases, privacy is a necessary form of self-protection. For this reason, the Caravan of Hope will approach outreach with care and intention, prioritizing consent, discretion, and safety so individuals remain protected long after we depart.
Our tour across the United States brings legal guidance and support directly to the LGBTQ+ community. While we are not a pro bono law firm, Caravan of Hope is centered on reaching underserved communities and helping individuals navigate legal challenges with expertise, care, and compassion.
01. lgbtQ+ people of color
While only 38% of the U.S. identify as people of color, 60% of them are survivors of anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-HIV hate crimes and people of color made up 80% of the LGBTQ+ people killed in the United States last year.
02. transgender people
Across countless lived experiences, transgender people face crushing levels of economic hardship, compounded by systemic discrimination and social isolation, and 41% have attempted to take their own lives.
03. lgbtQ+ elders
Approximately 2.4 million LGBTQ+ older adults live in the U.S. and that is expected to double by 2030. The needs of older LGBTQ+ adults are unique as they often have to "go back in the closet" during their final years.
04. lgbtQ+ youth
Of the 1.6 million homeless children in the U.S., 40% of them identify as LGBTQ+ and 84% of LGBTQ+ high school students report experiencing bullying. Of them, 68% say they hear predominantly negative messages of LGBTQ+ people from politicians.
“Equality is not a special right reserved for the select few.”

Why Now?
Many communities around the world have populations that are considered “underserved.” The definition of this is that their voices and needs are often overlooked, and the designation of the group is based upon inherent attributes of the individuals in the population, such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, etc. In the United States, systemic racism, misogyny, and homophobia have been occurring since the inception of this country, and while progress has been made towards equality for all minorities, certain people have simply quieted their prejudice instead of overcoming it.
The election of President Donald J. Trump gave rise and a voice to all those who have remained steadfast and tenacious in their prejudice, and as a result, we've seen an overwhelming increase in hate crimes and violence in the streets and hateful, discriminatory anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in capitols across the country.
In direct opposition to the bitter criticism, we've seen resistance in epic proportions, and the Caravan of Hope seeks to help the most vulnerable LGBTQ+ citizens by providing free access to legal services and competent counsel.
What better time than NOW to take the resistance on the road?
Our Impact
The Caravan of Hope embarks on a mission to bring essential legal services directly to underserved LGBTQ+ communities in the United States. Our work begins by connecting with local LGBTQ+ affirming spaces and trusted community networks within each city we visit. We focus on visibility and accessibility by sharing information through social media platforms and dropping flyers in LGBTQ+ friendly establishments, and community spaces. This allows information to spread through familiar and trusted channels, helping people understand who we are, what we offer, and where to find us. By prioritizing consent, safety, and trust, we create a welcoming space for individuals who may not be openly out or feel comfortable seeking support.
Our approach is discreet yet accessible. The RV is thoughtfully located within the towns we serve to help protect confidentiality and safety for all clients. Recognizing the complexity of legal issues, we don't just stop at the initial consultation. We commit to ongoing support through online follow-ups, phone calls, and emails, aiming to conclude each case with care.
The Caravan of Hope goes beyond generic legal advice, offering comprehensive services, including uncontested divorces, adoption petitions, transgender name changes, LGBTQ+ employment discrimination support, and more. We're aware of the unique and specific legal challenges faced by individuals and pledge to extend every possible assistance.
